When it comes to the millions of men and women around the world that are attempting to better their lives by taking on a healthy lifestyle, there are things that you still might be doing wrong. If you are looking at the food pyramid and decide that you don’t think you can eat enough carrots and celery in a day to get all the nutrients you need, you may decide instead to head to the grocery store to buy carrot juice or some V8 cocktail.
That is not the right move; rather you should head to your local appliance store and pick up a juicer. The cost may be high at first, but the juice you will make from home is packed with a lot more beneficial nutrients than what you will get from any store-bought juice.
Homemade Juice vs Store Bought
When you drink these store-bought concoctions, you are getting something that tastes delicious and something you are assuming is giving you all the nutrients you need. The label tells you that, so you think you are in the clear. While you are getting the nutrients they are advertising, you are also getting a lot of unhealthy aspects. The biggest thing that is ignored when these drinks are consumed is the amount of sugar used to make them. Every fruit has sugar in them, to begin with, but manufacturers add more in the process to make the juices sweeter, especially when they are mixing bland fruits and vegetables.
In store-bought juices, by consuming a glass or two days, you are also getting an unhealthy amount of preservatives that are used in the manufacturing process. It’s not all bad as there are good preservatives in these drinks (notably orange juices because Vitamin C is an important preservative), but overall, you could be fighting an uphill battle.
If you have decided it is time for a change in your life and that you need to start living healthier, stay out of the juice aisle at the store. You won’t need them anymore once you buy a juicer. There are a lot of juicers available, so no matter what you pick, you are improving your health. Aside from getting all the nutrients in your glass from freshly made juice, you are also working at cleansing your body.
Your store-bought juices contain a lot of actual juice that comes from the fruits inside the container, but you are missing out on an entirely different world with homemade juices. With homemade juicing, you are getting natural enzymes and nutrients that would otherwise be lost in a store-made juice. By juicing your own fruits and vegetables, you are also getting a lot of extra fiber that you wouldn’t get in your store-bought drinks. This fiber, usually found in the pulp or the skin, is best acquired at home.
The ability to make your own juice at home allows you to create many delicious combinations that you can’t find when walking through the store. Store-bought juices usually only contain basic vegetables like tomatoes, but when you make a juice at home, you are able to add in the different health benefits of vegetables like kale, carrots, spinach, and wheatgrass, and more. As much as any combination of those vegetables might scare off those new to the juicing world, not only will the drink taste great, but it will also provide you with more than enough of your daily need for various vitamins.
This is one of those debates that is difficult for many to switch sides on, especially when they see the price tag of a top-of-the-line juicer. Throughout the process though, if you keep track of the amount of money you spent on bottles of store-bought juice, you would see your investment pay off within a few months.
Not to mention, throughout those first few months of drinking your homemade juice, you are going to feel more energetic and have an overall healthier feel than you have been. You won’t get that typical crashing feeling that you get after drinking store-bought juice since you are getting all the extra nutrients from the skin and pulp of the fruits and vegetables.
It may be a large investment to make, but it will be one that helps you and your family get healthy in the long term.
